DG Rangers conveys reservations to CM over ad issue
Meanwhile, Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that advertisements against Rangers are an individual act and that their goal is to create misunderstanding.
The Sindh government has categorically dissociated itself from a malicious campaign through a series of advertisements in the media against paramilitary Rangers.
Karachi police had accused Rangers of kidnapping 6 people.
Pakistan Rangers reserved the right to take legal action against the propaganda built on lies and that those elements would be exposed, he said.
The advertisements read that the six missing persons had been taken away by unidentified Rangers personnel.
DG Rangers, home minister, information minister and additional IG were also present in the meeting.
Officials said the letter for publishing the advertisement in leading newspapers was written by DSP Islam along with a covering letter by SP Investigation West Latif Siddiqui, who is out of the country on an official assignment.
Suppose, the DIG said, if they were in the custody of the Rangers, then there was no need to give ads in the newspapers.
Speaking to Geo News late on Tuesday, AIG Mehar said the ads were published without approval, adding that Sindh government’s information department assisted in publishing the ads.
He said that Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) have also been suspended. The team will submit a report after complete investigation into the case within 3 days.
