Dhoni fixed India-England Test in 2014, claims ex-team manager
The former manager of the Indian team has alleged fixing against the Indian skipper.
Sunil Dev, who was with the team in the official capacity on the 2014 tour of England, has claimed that the Manchester Test was fixed, and there were some peculiar decisions taken in the other matches on that tour as well.
Continuing with the theme of the IPL, Dhoni, who will be leading one of the two new franchises, the Rising Pune Supergiants in the next edition of the IPL, described the Maharashtra Cricket Association’s International Stadium at Gahunje in Pune as a “special ground” for more reasons than one.
Dev was caught disclosing this in a sting operation conducted by a Hindi daily.
He highlighted the bowling-friendly conditions on the day of the fourth Test and said that the team, on winning the toss, had initially chose to bowl first.
Apparently, there is a video in which Dev can be seen expressing shock over Dhoni’s decision to bat first when the conditions were not in favour of the batsmen at Manchester.
Talking about his expectations of how the T20 match between India and Sri Lanka scheduled to be held on Tuesday would pan out, Dhoni hinted that the contest could be a high-scoring affair. India went on to lose the game by an innings and 54 runs. Dev said it was a deliberate attempt by Dhoni to bat first and he was also 100 per cent sure that the reputed Indian captain had fixed the match.
He has also claimed that he has even informed the issue to N Srinivasan, who was the president of BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India). Despite inaction by the BCCI, Dev didn’t go public as “he feared for his life”.
