Dhoni not happy with Umpires
“We thought it will be a very good practice before getting into the T20 World Cup”.
“When it comes to reading the game and respecting the condition, it has been good for us”.
“Whether it is good (advertisement) for T20 cricket is hard one to answer with so much of bounce and movement”.
“The reason why people love T20 is for the sixes and fours”, Dhoni said. Low scoring should be 130-140 and high-scoring can be 200 or 240.
“In a way it pushes (forces) us to respect the conditions”. In the coming games the openers won’t go with a set mindset.
After yesterday’s thumping victory over arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian cricket community has been quite ecstatic as they managed to bowl out Pakistan in less than 85 runs, and managed to race their way towards a major victory at Mirpur in Bangladesh.
The use of umpiring devices like ear-piece doesn’t please India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at all, as he feels such a technology prevents the on-field officials from hearing snicks and edges in a packed stadium.
This happened last night as Bangladeshi umpire SIS Saikat was not able to hear a nick from Khurram Manzoor’s bat while Nehra was bowling.
Dhoni said, “I don’t want to get banned before the World T20”.
On being asked his opinion about the pitches seen so far in the tournament, Dhoni said, “We scored 166 in one match but frankly we were going to score 140”.
“One thing that certainly should be done, you know all the umpires now have a walkie-talkie and an ear-piece in their ear”. It’s a hard job. “Effectively, it means they are all umpiring with just one ear”, Dhoni pointed out. “At least, have both the ears around, there is no point having an earpiece when a bowler is bowling as you don’t need to use it then”, he said.
India batsman Virat Kohli has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan Saturday.
Dhoni was in a mood to take dig at match officials as another innocuous question about his tips to bowlers was caught on stump microphone.
