DiCaprio And Hardy Reunite At Revenant Premiere
Leonardo DiCaprio might want to keep his speech ready because 2016 might just be his lucky year!
Telling the true story of Hugh Glass, Leo filmed in sub-zero temperatures, jumped in a freezing river and – despite being a vegetarian – ate raw bison liver for the part.
The Revenant will be released in United Kingdom cinemas on January 15.
“I think it’s a shame there’s not more diversity on the screen because films are a mirror of humanity, we should be seeing ourselves there, all of us”.
The film, which follows the adventures of a 19 century frontiersman played by Leonardo DiCaprio, received 12 nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor (DiCaprio) and Best Cinematography, a nod which likely owes to the scenery in the province’s mountain parks and foothills.

If DiCaprio wins, it will be his first-ever Oscar in his 25-year career.
He was featured on 50 Cent’s Instagram page performing Dubsmashed renditions of “P.I.M.P” and “9 Shots”, rapped along to songs from the Wu-Tang Clan and went viral a few years ago for freestyling with his then-infant son. Stefano Tonchi, editor of W magazine, said that in “The Revenant”, DiCaprio put in “not 100 percent but 300 percent”.
He said: “Leo gave me a call and Sean Penn had bailed and he was like, ‘When can we get you out here?’ No, I’m joking, but he did give me a call and we spoke and he said there’s good money and the script is awesome”.
Meanwhile the biggest movie in film history, Stars Wars: The Force Awakens managed to nab 5 nominations but failed to receive one for Best Picture.
The other five movies nominated for best picture include “Room”, based on the book by Canadian author Emma Donahoe, “Spotlight”, “Bridge of Spies”, “The Big Short” and “Brooklyn”.
DiCaprio was also joined by Domhnall Gleeson, Lukas Haas, Iñárritu and Will Poulter – who blew kisses to his adoring fans.
