Dickerson: Warriors 23-0 record ‘great for the NBA’
They just have a lot of weapons. “If I have a good shootaround Friday, I think I’ll play”. [The Warriors] are playing great as a team right now but we can’t go out there thinking like this is the championship. “Nobody’s conquered it yet, so we’ll give it our best shot”. Rondo had been putting up wild passing highlights lately but this move on Trey Burke is going to get shown in highlight clips for a while now.
As usual, the coach’s theme was echoed among his players following the hour-long practice and short film session. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors now holds a 23-0 record, after beating the Indiana Pacers 131-123 on Wednesday, December 9.
At 13-9, the Celtics are comfortably placed in the race for playoff spots in the grueling Eastern Conference.
“It’s not feeling great, but it’s not feeling bad”, Thompson said. “I felt like I was due for a game like that”. I was bigger than everybody, but my dad and uncle always made me play guard; just to work on those skills in case I never grew again. The energy with which they play is incredible.
Now people are looking ahead to Christmas, when the Warriors will unwrap a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals against LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
It’s to the point where one has to wonder if there’s a team out there that can beat them.
The Celtics have won two straight games and four of five, with the lone loss coming against the San Antonio Spurs.
Curry, the regular 2014-15 NBA MVP and now regarded as the best basketball player in the world is well-known for his faith in Jesus Christ and regularly speaks out publically regarding his beliefs and Christ-centered lifestyle, a lifestyle which is at odds with the modern-day professional athlete. But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t relish a chance to be a streak-buster. It’s heck of a challenge.
“We’re going to take it as another game”.
The Celtics do have some ideas of how they can do that.
“He’s not well enough to risk it”, Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said, adding that he didn’t know if Thompson would be able to play Saturday at Milwaukee. They did that, to a large degree, in Charlotte, where Curry was raised. And you’re going to have advantageous opportunities when you’re on the floor with those other guys. “They’re undefeated. But we can’t look at it as a Super Bowl”.
Following the game, Thompson told reporters that the ankle will be sore for a few days but he will be alright. Teams like this on runs like this do not come around often.
“Everything happens for a reason”, Green said. “But we’re in the same league”.
