Did Trump’s kids save the convention?
She is also friendly with Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, and noticeably abstained from the Clinton bashing that has been rife in this convention. One former staffer filed a complaint earlier this year saying she was paid $2,000 a month – about half what several men with the same title make.
Trump’s daughter said her father cares about minorities and that she has seen it first hand at his job sites. Make no mistake – we need to keep our eyes wide open and do all we can to prevent a Trump presidency, but one thing became clear this week; Ivanka may be Donald Trump’s daughter, but it’s possible she’s her own person in spite of that fact. I am proud to be gay. “I am probably not as likely to say what’s on my mind and I think most people aren’t”, she said.
“I feel like the anchovy on Ivanka’s Caesar salad”, said Tom Barrack, a longtime friend of Trump’s and a real estate investor.
But listening to her deliver such a rousing speech at the convention, I’m left wondering: Why can’t she run for President?
“I think it’s part of what people love about him”.
“Shop Ivanka’s look from her #RNC speech”, she tweeted, followed by a link to Nordstrom to buy the $138 form-fitting, baby pink dress she designed, and wore on Thursday.
While she wouldn’t divulge the specifics of her conversations with her father, she said she isn’t afraid of sharing her opinion with him.
“Like many of my fellow Millennials, I do not consider myself categorically Republican or Democrat”, Ivanka said. It would have been helpful if she had explained that mothers’ lower pay isn’t just an outcome of discrimination, but rather the result of the different choices that women with children tend to make about work, by logging fewer hours on the job, commuting less, and seeking out positions with more stable schedules. “At my father’s company”, she told the cheering crowd, “there are more female than male executives”. “He will be your greatest, your truest and your most loyal champion”. Melania, Trump’s wife, spoke Monday night.
“I think she brings in independents”.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump walks on stage after his daughter, Ivanka Trump, introduced him during the evening session on the final day of the Republican National Convention on July 21, 2016, at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. “In the same office in Trump Tower where we now work together, I remember playing on the floor by my father’s desk, constructing miniature buildings with Legos and erector sets, while he did the same with concrete, steel and glass”.
“I’m terrified”, she said in an interview on NBC’s “Today Show”. “What’s unsafe about Ivanka is that when she lies, you want to believe her”.
And not only have all the Trump children lined up with unwavering unity behind their father’s candidacy, each addressing the convention at various points throughout the week, but apparently all the women in the Trump family have been wearing shoes from Ivanka’s line all week as well.
Even Trump’s opponents agreed that Ivanka, a balm to her dad’s shock-jock tactics, is a strong weapon for Trump. While he said his father is close with all of his siblings, Don Jr. said “his bond with Ivanka is truly unique”.
