Diego Costa throws top at Mourinho
Costa did not come on and, in the final moments of the game, threw his substitutes’ bib over his shoulder in the direction of coach Jose Mourinho. I think it’s also normal.
If he wants to hurt me it would not be with a bib.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said that the Premier League champions had produced their best performance of the campaign after they drew 0-0 at in-form Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
“I think Diego is very privileged because he was the last one to be (put) on the bench”.
“The captain has been on the bench, so have Ivanovic, Cahill the vice-captain of England, Fabregas, Pedro, Oscar, Hazard the player of the season, so he is privileged I kept him in the team for all these matches”.
With performances improving and confidence on the rise Mourinho claimed,”I would not be surprised if we don’t lose one of the next 10 games.” a quote that most Chelsea fans will be hoping plays out to be true, as Chelsea fight to gain a top four finish.
“We are not happy with the result but we are happy with the team”.
“If we’d scored a goal, we’d have won”, said Mourinho, whose team have now gone three games without defeat.
Yet Mourinho played down suggestions that his relationship with Costa has broken down and that the striker’s attitude has become a cause for concern.
Describing Costa as a “positive” player, Mourinho said that the former is physically fit and working well.
“I just want them to be mentally ready to play when I need them, and during the second half when I felt like I could eventually use one of them they went to warm up and he was ready to play”.
It’s safe to say that Spurs are having a pretty good season when you can battle through a scoreless draw with the defending league champions and feel like you’ve dropped two points on the day. We deserved more. We tried to win it. I think Chelsea will be happy with the point.
“When I asked him to warm-up he did”.
Spurs enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and chances and forced some decent work in the first half from Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as they went a 13th straight league game without defeat, their best run since a 14-match streak in 1984-1985.
“There was a lot of movement with small passes between us”.
Asmir Begovic has been covering but has been part of a Chelsea side involved in their worst start to a Premier League season in the Roman Abramovich era. “We have a good December waiting for us”.
