Diner owner defends yelling at 2-year-old to stop crying
It all started because YOUR PARTY NEEDED 3 full-size pancakes for this 2 year old…The waitress even told you there was an issue with 3 full size pancakes from Marcy’s!
The child’s mother posted on Marcy’s Diner’s Facebook page about her experience. There were over 300 comments using threats and incendiary language against the establishment, but the post is now deleted.
How should the owner have reacted to the child screaming in her restaurant? She added that: “Who in their right mind would behave like this unless you are deranged?”
“I may have crossed the line”.
‘I slammed my hands on the counter and I said “this needs to stop” – meaning her screaming – and I pointed at her and she looked at me and she stopped, ‘ Neugebauer said.
“We all have our opinions”. I chose to yell at the kid. I don’t know 100 percent. The child would also be quiet for a little bit after you screamed at her because you scared her not communicated with her. Your behavior is embarrassing.
When media outlets reached out to Neugebauer, she said that she’s not sorry for the incident.
When asked if she would do anything differently, Neugebauer said, “Absolutely not”. It made the 75 other people dining here happy, and they left.
A couple visiting from Colorado was at the diner Monday. Seventy-five other customers should not have to be held hostage listening to a screaming child while they try to eat their own meal.
“Well that would feel very inappropriate. They may never come back, other people may not come in”, she said. “Sometimes it’s better in a small place to have them step outside for the conversation so you don’t make a scene”, Josh Wolkon said. Read through the rest of the posts on Marcy’s Diner’s page, and you’ll see it’s not uncommon for her words to be rather inflammatory, though the usual target is herself and her staff. Neugebauer said she will be ready. “I have no idea why, but it had to”, she told VICE. “I might have used poor judgment”. I wouldnt say I was sorry because it stopped. “When things stop, it’s usually a good thing”.
