Director of Clinton Foundation suffers stroke
Clinton Foundation President Donna Shalala suffered a stroke Tuesday evening shortly after the end of the charity’s signature annual event, the Clinton Global Initiative gathering in New York, reports The New York Times.
Donna Shalala’s prognosis is “very encouraging” after suffering a stroke Tuesday night. At the end of her tenure, the school named the Shalala Student Center, a building she oversaw the construction of, after her.
“We will continue to share updates as we know more”, the Clinton’s statement concluded.
“Initial reports are very encouraging”, the pair said in the statement. She was said to be alert and making jokes after undergoing surgery.
The veteran educator was also chancellor at the University of Wisconsin and president of Hunter College in New York.
Shalala’s history with the Clintons dates back years. She served as former President Bill Clinton’s Health and Human Services secretary.
