Director Rupert Wyatt Leaves Gambit
Production was set to start in November, but has now been delayed to early 2016, prompting Wyatt’s departure, sources tell Variety.
After struggling to find the perfect filmmaker to handle the project (three directors initially passed on the job), it finally breathed a sigh of relief when Rupert Wyatt decided to take on the job. As such, he’s had to quit the project, and a late search for a new director is underway. And I just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there’s a really unique opportunity.
The next film in Fox’s superhero franchise to be released will be X-Men: Apocalypse, which stars Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Oscar Isaac, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Hugh Jackman. Deadpool is currently getting attention because of its anticipated crude humor, language and violence.
Screen Rant also wrote that the plot details of the upcoming movie is still unknown at present.
The schedule was already looking tight on next year’s third X-Men-related film, Gambit.
Josh Zetumer wrote the screenplay based on a treatment by the character’s co-creator Chris Claremont. Lea Seydoux is set to co-star, taking on the role of Bella Donna Boudreaux.
Tatum will produce Gambit along with Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Simon Kinberg. Patrick Mizell is the location scout. Gambit is slated to hit theaters October 2016.
