Disaster on Miss Universe as Steve Harvey announces the WRONG victor – Miss
Talk about awkward: Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez had to hand over her crown after Steve Harvey erroneously announced she was the victor of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.
Harveytook to Twitter to say: “I’d like to apologise wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake”.
Colombia’s president said Monday he was shocked when Miss Colombia won and then immediately lost the Miss Universe crown, and said as far as he was concerned she remained the victor.
“Courage is grace under pressure – this is what Pia showed in the middle of the confusion and controversy that marked her coronation as the new Miss Universe”, Pacquiao told philboxing.com.
After Miss Universe host Steve Harvey accidentally crowned Miss Colombia instead of the rightful victor, Miss Philippines, ET spoke with a source who explained the blunder.
“Pia, good luck to her. I’m sure she’ll be a great Miss Universe”, she said.
Donald Trump has weighed in on Steve Harvey’s misstep at last night’s “Miss Universe” pageant, where Harvey announced the wrong contestant as the victor.
“Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy”, she said. First runner-up is Colombia, it was my mistake.
– Steve Harvey (@IAmSteveHarvey) December 21, 2015 I don’t want to take away from this fantastic night and pageant. A woman stood in between the two contestants, trying to comfort Gutierrez by rubbing her back. I will take responsibility for this.
Adding insult to injury, in one of Harvey’s many online apologies, he misspelled the name of the country. Colombia was listed as the first runner-up, and he’d been confused with how it was written.
He held up the card for Fox network cameras to see up close.
