Disbanding the Electoral College proposed
The 20 members of the U.S. Electoral College from Pennsylvania are being bombarded with pleas to not select Donald Trump as the nation’s 45th president next month. He also called the Electoral College “genius”.
In that race, neither candidate (four candidates total) were able to gain enough Electoral College votes to be declared the victor. “I couldn’t agree more”. It became a theme in Trump’s temper tantrums.
But I don’t think it will change. It’s worth noting that I’ve always considered myself a Republican.
“The way i explain it is, we have state level election and depending on how many states you win, that determines who wins the presidency”, said Zingher. Is it truly a democracy? But then CNN went on to say Trump had since expressed a different opinion.
Trump’s electoral college lead is expected to grow by 16 when Michigan’s votes are finalized in the coming days.
“Every one of our 20 will be voting for Donald Trump”, he declared. So if you voted for Clinton in Texas, you could argue that your vote was entirely irrelevant.
So how did we end up with such a ridiculous and controversial system? Voters in presidential elections cast ballots for individual candidates but the state-by-state results determine which slate of Electoral College members later select the president. “I’m hoping to try and finagle my way into that”.

MI cast 16 electoral votes for president.
Trump won fair and square under the system in place.
Hillary Clinton has reflected on her USA election defeat, acknowledging the difficulty of the loss for her supporters and urging them to persevere through the Donald Trump era.
So smaller states get a huge boost in their political power under the Electoral College, and I don’t think there will ever be enough momentum to change the system via a Constitutional Amendment.
“All you have to do to win the World Series is win the four games”, he said.
Although it is rare for the victor of the popular vote and of the Electoral College to not be the same candidate, it has happened on a few occasions, he said. It’s not truly representative of the American people. Many have called for the Presidential election to be decided based on the popular vote alone, but as explained, there are issues with this method that make it less than ideal on its own.
