Disney Infinity 3.0 Xbox 360 Digital download live
The starter pack for Disney Infinity 3.0 retails for $64.99 and includes software and base, the Star Wars Twilight of the Republic play set, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices. Disney Infinity 3.0 has moved on a great deal from where the series began, but the shortness of the adventure felt completely at odds with its quality. The Toy Box mode was fantastic right out of the gate and promised to only get better, which it has.
If you just invest in the starter bundle, though, you’ll find more than enough to keep you and your kids busy until December. Even its toys are better, featuring more detailed paint jobs and special edition Star Wars figures with lightsabers that actually light up – but all of this freshness comes at a price.
I wasn’t a fan of the previous Disney Infinity entries. Disney Infinity 3.0 doesn’t have this problem at all: The Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Playset features four different locations from the prequel trilogy, and each one feels large and well-populated.
After an anxious wait, we’re happy to report that the Disney Infinity 3.0 Xbox 360 Digital download is now live on the Xbox Live Marketplace. As of 2.0, the ability to build something wasn’t super necessary to enjoying Disney Infinity, and it has continued to expand since then.
To ease in newcomers, a redesigned Toy Box Hub offers tutorials for everything from combat to racing to farming. Whereas that one was based around going from one place to another and pummelling waves of enemies, this play set is much more elaborate, and includes not only travel to different planets like Tatooine and Naboo, but also decent space combat and impressive podracing.
This leaves the Toy Box, Disney Infinity’s increasingly excellent, involving and approachable fun-cooker.
There is a lot to do in the toy box as always, but this time I have more of an interest in trying it all.
Disney Interactive launched Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, the latest installment in the highly successful Disney Infinity “toys-to-life” franchise, bringing together Star Wars with Disney, Disney•Pixar and Marvel for the ultimate family gaming experience. I’ve owned every iteration of this game, and this is the first time I’ve been able to say that. Together new heroes can join forces with characters from previous editions and embark on adventures as big as your imagination in the 3.0 Toy Box!
The overall package is still likely a little too light in terms of challenge and meaty gameplay for the truly hardcore console gaming crowd, and even some devotees may be wary about upgrading so soon after Disney Infinity 2.0. The Star Wars injection alone should get some people who were on the fence about giving it a shot to jump in, and a number of design decisions and gameplay improvements reward those who have been along for the ride the entire time. Those qualms aside, this is the best version of the game to date, one that should appeal to a wide range of players and make Disney a whole bunch more money.
I want this game!
