Disney releases new trailer for Zootopia
It may be an obvious gag, sure, but it works. “Zootopia” also features the voice talents of J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, and Shakira.
Of course they face trouble when they become stuck in the DMV where she needs an employee to run a license plate. The new trailer doesn’t shed any actual light on this plot, but it does offer an extended scene from the movie and it just looks adorable.
While there are plenty of strategic ways to stoke the collective hype for a 3D computer animated feature that’s all but guaranteed to bring in the bug bucks, Disney has gone a rather conceptual route with the release of its first clip of next year’s Zootopia.
Here’s a synopsis: Zootopia takes place in the animal-filled city of the same name, as it follows optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin).
As you’d expect, Zootopia seems to be using specific animal types to provide commentary on actual human society, with Bateman’s suave con artist literally being a fox and so on. She’s partnered with a wisecracking “scam-artist” fox called Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) on her first case.
Zootopia follows officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) as she attempts to solve the case of a missing otter. What about sitting at a DMV with a workforce comprised of sloths? Directed by Byron Howard (Bolt) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph), it opens March 4.
