So cool! Disney celebrated the 23rd anniversary of “Aladdin” by re-releasing the classic animated movie with bonus material, featuring the late Robin Williams in a few never-before-seen clips.
On Friday, Good Morning America aired a peek at a few of these never-before-seen outtakes, which will be included on a new home-video re-release of Aladdin due next week.
Last week, Aladdin was released on digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere, according to AOL. And these outtakes show that he had endless variations on his dialogue, so much that we could probably have entirely different scenes with Genie and still have spare footage.
Even though Williams sung in the film, apparently he was not as talented at singing compared to the other voice actors of Aladdin.
Crew members of the original film shared their memories of Williams on “Good Morning America” Friday.
“Yeah, we wrote the half with Robin in thoughts”, added John Musker, a co-writer/co-director on the movie.
“It was superior working with Robin, completely unimaginable”, stated composer Alan Menken.
‘We were totally walking down the plank.
“Fortunately he agreed to do it, and he worked so hard”, he continued. “If he said no, we were in big trouble because the whole concept was built around Robin”. We would have practically four hours of recording and by the end he was just drenched. The archived footage shows Williams in the recording booth bringing the Genie to life with his improvisational skills and impressions, many of which didn’t make the final cut. “He had so much energy and so much passion”.
