Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ Gets Prequel Called ‘Genies’
The House of Mouse announced on Wednesday that they are in the very early stages of creating a prequel to Aladdin, tentatively titled Genies!
Disney is reportedly working on a brand new “Aladdin” prequel which will take a look at how the Genie ended up being trapped in a lamp. Next cab off the rank is a slightly controversial choice – the 1992 smash hit ‘Aladdin’, which famously featured the voice of Robin Williams as the voice of Genie.
That’s a total of 11 so far, but the score has just gone up to 12 (and potentially 13), with the news that plans are afoot for a live action Aladdin origins film. Producer Tripp Vinson is on board too, having also worked on dark films such as The Number 33, The Exorcism of Lily Rose and Hansel and Gretel.
There is no word on who will direct the film nor any release date. So far, we know that Disney has the following live action movies coming, based on its animated movies…
The Genie is one of the most iconic and prominent characters in Disney’s films.
