Disney’s shortlist for young Han Solo actor revealed, character could appear
Fantastic Four’s Miles Teller, The Fault in Our Stars’ Ansel Engort, 21 Jump Street’s Dave Franco, Transformers: Age of Extinction’s Jack Reynor, The Longest Ride’s Scott Eastwood, The Perks of Being a Wallflower’s Logan Lerman, Brooklyn’s Emory Cohen and Everybody Wants Some’s Blake Jenner are among the names on the final list. In 2018, “Star Wars” fans will get to see the roots of their favorite “scoundrel” of the universe, when the second “Star Wars Anthology” film, the untitled Han Solo movie, premieres. The movie is set between Star Wars: Episode III and Star Wars: Episode IV, meaning the character is around his late 20s.
After auditioning literally thousands of actors for the part of young Han Solo, Disney and Lucasfilm have whittled their list down to a dozen actors, and eight of their names have been made public.
Variety is reporting the shortlist for actors being considered for a young Han Solo for Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars spinoff.
Ford, whose career exploded quicker than Alderaan after he was cast in the original “Star Wars” in 1977, reprised the trademark gig in the critically acclaimed new “Star Wars” flick, “The Force Awakens”. That means it’s time to find a leading man to fill the iconic role originated by Harrison Ford.
Although it may seem that this casting is coming super early for the Han Solo prequel, which is slated to be released in 2018, but there’s a chance we could be seeing him a lot sooner than that.
The report doesn’t indicate a clear frontrunner, but further states that Producer Kathleen Kennedy will begin screen testing the new group of contenders along with Lord and Miller, with “a decision expected in the next couple weeks”. Such might be the case with the Han Solo movie.
