Disneyland Rides And Attractions Close For Star Wars Land Construction
When The Happiest Place on Earth welcomes a fresh attraction, a few standard physical changes are seen, though nothing too major. And so it goes for Disneyland, which will have to close the following attractions until it unveils a portion of the park so powerful it may just blow up Alderaan.
Big Thunder Ranch was rumored to be closed early next year to make room, that has been officially confirmed today.
This seems to confirm that construction will begin in Disneyland park in January.
The Disney Railroad will also be out service but only temporarily, along with Fantasmic! Several of these have been rumored for quite some time. Disney would not confirm that number, but did say that all cast members will be offered transfers to other roles. An exact date as to when the attractions will re-open hasn’t been revealed. Well it looks like it will be happening before then as Disney has confirmed that the Season of the Force will begin on November 16th 2015.
Guests will be able to “choose between the Dark Side and Darth Vader himself or the Light Side, where Chewbacca will be on hand for a wookiee greeting”.
Space Mountain will get a thematic overlay to become Hyperspace Mountain, where riders will witness an X-wing battle inside the indoor roller coaster.
Pictured in a scene from the attraction, “Star Wars”, villain Darth Vader is one of the famous characters that guests encounter in “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue“, a 3-D attraction at Disneyland. It’s a series of events and experiences that will keep visitors excited for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opens on December 18.
The Innoventions building will transform into the Star Wars Launch Bay with props and exhibits from the movies along with galleries dedicated to lightsabers, starships, stormtroopers and Jedi Knights.
