DJ Derek – ‘Britain’s oldest DJ’ – missing

Derek Morris – has not been seen for three weeks, according to his family.

Morris is a stalwart of the Bristol DJ circuit and has frequently toured the UK with his reggae, dancehall and soul sets. The 73-year-old was last seen three weeks ago. “Police are now informed and he is being treated as a missing person”.

George Ferguson – the Mayor of Bristol – has also joined attempts to spread the word about his disappearance, responding to a tweet from Derek’s niece. He was formerly an accountant for Cadbury and became a DJ in his mid-30s.

An enormous part of Bristol’s music community, DJ Derek was even asked to play a cameo role in the video for Dizzee Rascal’s “Dirtee Disco”.

Avon and Somerset Police said Morris had been reported missing by his family, and that anyone with information as to his whereabouts should call 101.
