DJ Mustard Claims ‘Fancy’ and ‘Classic Man’ Are ‘Rip-Offs’
According to the hugely successful beatsmith (Big Sean’s “IDFWU”, Ty Dolla $ign’s “Paranoid”, Omarion’s “Post to Be” all things YG), The Invisible Men and The Arcade, b.k.a. the producers of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” are coming for Jidenna’s “Classic Man” Wondaland producers in court.
“Some of the people have said Iggy Azalea is getting paid off this record”. “The truth is, we actually didn’t sample it. But ever since the decision of Robin Thicke and Pharrell, we believe that it was important to make sure that we are safe”.
He reportedly tweeted: “Classic mans a rip off…Str8 up!”
Mustard took to Twitter to mock the whole situation. And Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” sounds a lot like something DJ Mustard would produce. This is a west coast sound people from la all the way to the bay …
Iggy Azalea answered a fan’s question last month and claimed that the song was indeed a sample but she possibly got the assumption from the royalty checks she received in the mail. “She used to be chillin” with us.
Watch the full interview for yourself below. She also admitted that she’s been struggling with the creative process for her new LP. She knows how hard we was working to make that sound and for you to go to somebody else or for you to do whatever you did, whatever they did and just be like, “Oh this is new and I don’t know why Mustard dissed…’ No. You know why. I wanted no filler”.
DJ Mustard says that he is not pursuing legal action against either song, that he is just keeping West Coast music alive.
