DLSA to organise 3rd National Lok Adalat at Rayagada
About 19000 cases of different nature have been settled amicably by National Lok Adalats (NLAs) held across the Kashmir valley, officials said here today.
Cases Settled: As per statistics provided by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, around 18 lakh cases (93,812 pending and around 17 lakh pre-litigation cases) were settled in courts across the state through Lok Adalat.
Besides, other cases related to Revenue, Sales and Income Tax, Service Matters and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act were also settled amicably. Ajmal, the District Judge & Chairman Legal Services Authority, Rayagada.
The oldest case taken up in the National Lok Adalat held yesterday, dated back to 1993 and pertained to the National Rayon Corporation (NRC). The Adalat, which settled the maximum of cases, drew inspiration from the administrative judge of the industrial court, S K Deshpande. Out of a large number of cases taken up, 250 cases were settled amicably on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, Judge Mr. Rao said the Lok Adalat benches had heard cases following instructions from the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) for ensuring speedy justice to petitioners.
The cases, pending for several years, amounted to about Rs 7 crore, Assistant Registrar of the Industrial Court, GG Mahavarkar said.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Mrs Mezivolu T Therieh, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary KDLSA, where she appreciated the banks and the beneficiaries for coming forward to settle their cases.
As many as 2,143 criminal and 1,021 civil cases were disposed. This event is being conducted in all the district courts of India.
