He needed to in order to try and unify the party. “I thought he was a pretty special candidate”. My integrity tells me to vote for Jill Stein and the Green Party. Since the Republican Party was founded in 1856, it has failed to finish in the top two in a presidential election just once – in 1912, when former Republican President Teddy Roosevelt ran as a “third party” candidate and dropped the sitting President William Taft to third place.

Cecil Bothwell’s leaving the Democratic Party because he is a Bernie Sanders supporter seems to echo his candidate’s behavior.
