DNR: Harvest Numbers Show Growth In Deer Population
As a hunter and director of audiology at CMU, Stewart stated a couple practical tips for those participating in Michigan’s firearm deer hunting season.
The DNR says it’s a strong indication that the population has grown from a low point two years ago.
“That’s where this new program intends to help hunters”.
In large tracts of forestlands, deer are drawn – nearly immediately – to wherever any thinning of the forest canopy occurs.
The revenue comes in not only through deer tags but also through related activities such as deer processing, tourism money from out-of-town hunters, and food plots. That number is up from 104,785 deer taken over the same period past year. Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows that hunters in Missouri harvested more than 97,171 deer during the opening weekend of the November portion of the fall firearms season.
In addition to the signs identifying Deer Hunter Focus Areas, maps of state game lands with sections posted as Deer Hunter Focus Areas can be found on the Pennsylvania Game Commission website. Archery deer hunting opens again from November 25 through January 15, 2016.
