Doc Rivers went nuts after getting a technical in Clippers-Nets game
For three periods Tuesday night at Barclays Center, it seemed the Nets were headed for their eighth straight loss against the same Los Angeles Clippers team that started their downward spiral with a 27-point blowout on November 14 in Los Angeles.
Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was fined $15,000 for directing verbal abuse towards a game official and not leaving the court in a timely manner after his ejection, the National Basketball Association announced on Thursday. Brooklyn led by two with under 20 seconds left in overtime when inbounded the ball to Kilpatrick. Brook Lopez lead the Nets with 15 points on six of ten shooting, while the Clippers Chris Paul, JJ Reddick, and DeAndre Jordan combined for 37 points.
The Clippers’ had both of their rookies in the locker room for the first time in weeks with Brice Johnson and Diamond Stone both in Brooklyn.
Nets: Coach Kenny Atkinson still couldn’t give a timetable on Lin, saying the point guard who missed his 12th straight game with a strained left hamstring was working hard and “progressing as planned”. I didn’t want us to lose. All four of the Spurs’ defeats this season have been at home.
Jabari Parker added 18 points and Michael Beasley 17.
And when the Cleveland Cavaliers pulled their starters, including LeBron James, midway through the final period, the young Bucks still didn’t let up.
NEW ORLEANS – Anthony Davis recorded his 11th double-double of the season – finishing with 41 points and 16 rebounds – as New Orleans ended a two-game losing streak with its fifth consecutive home victory. It was a career high in points, rebounds, minutes and field goals as well as his second career double-double.
At least a good time was had by the rest of us.
Kilpatrick is looking like a real gem for Brooklyn, but no one expected the 26-year-old journeyman to take over an entire fourth quarter when the Nets needed it most against Los Angeles, one of the best teams.
“Technically, the first technical was for crossing the midcourt. If not, it’s going to be a long season”. Drummond was assessed a Flagrant Foul 2 and was promptly ejected. After three, Los Angeles increased their twelve point halftime lead to thirteen, and lead 86-73.
It didn’t matter that Blake Griffin moved a little slowly Sunday in the Clippers’ loss in Indiana.
