‘Doctor Strange’ Spoiler Alert: Rachel McAdams Confirms Casting Talks
You can check out much more from Swinton (although not much about Doctor unusual yet) at the link above – but comic fans beware, the “writer and artist John Byrne” to whom she was once married is probably not the one you’re thinking of. However, she confirmed that there have been early talks about her involvement in the film.
Rachel McAdams is already busy and omnipresent enough right now in Southpaw and True Detective – or at least part of them.
Earlier this month it was reported that Rachel McAdams might be in line to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, possible taking on a role in the upcoming Doctor odd movie, although at that time it wasn’t confirmed that actress was in negotiations. But she’s not a “comic book snob”.
Having been in two movies and one major TV show this summer alone – albelt ones that had their share of harsh critics in Aloha, Southpaw and True Detective – McAdams couldn’t be blamed if she wanted to take it easy.
Rachel McAdams still resides in Toronto, near her hometown, and is more likely to conduct business with Hollywood big shots via Skype than to hobnob in Los Angeles and prefers to live a low-key lifestyle.
Justifying her decisions about the roles that she does not take, she said that it’s often out of her own insecurities and she believes in bringing her best to the table. “If I’m picky, it’s for that reason”, she explained”. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Chadwick Boseman have all said similar responses to the question, but considering McAdams has turned down a Marvel role before, we just can’t speculate. “So if I’m not connecting to something, then I’m not gonna hold up my end of the bargain, and that’s really embarrassing”. There’s not really anything to comment on.
Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Doctor unusual. It’s the next Marvel film to go into production, and since a couple of the other major roles look to be set – with Tilda Swinton playing the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor attached as Baron Mordo – McAdams may be the last piece of the casting puzzle before the cast and crew behind the film can go to work.
The movie about the titular neurosurgeon doctor, who discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions, will open in US theatres on November 4, 2016.
