‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special to receive theatrical release
Doctor Who has a tradition of having Christmas Specials every year since the revival of the show back in 2005.

“I didn’t feel starting the second series that I knew how to play Doctor Who”, he said. “It’s a very amusing episode”, he said. “And I wrote to him after and said, ‘well I didn’t know that I did that, ‘ and he said, ‘oh it doesn’t matter, Steven, she flew straight into a moon!”. “Whenever I’m feeling bad about myself I just read my Twitter feed because it’s full of love”. “She is an old hand on the show – it was brilliant fun”. And Jenna Coleman will be participating in a Q&A when she appears at the event on Saturday (14.11.15).
Her replacement companion has not been announced. She’s just a rock – and a attractive rock – and one that can act incredibly. A journalist asked what I was doing and I said I’d been asked to direct a couple of episodes of Veep but I couldn’t because of Doctor Who.
“My avowed intention with this episode was to essentially write it as a horror movie and rein it in, but we didn’t”, he admitted.
“It is very, very, scary – and I hope people find it so”. I’m slightly insomniac myself and the idea came to me one night, lying awake, staring at the ceiling.
As for the much-hyped appearance of the Sandmen as the villains, we will say that they were particular scary … but the problem is that we actually think that there have been scarier things this season.
“Maybe there’s a reason for sleep beyond just needing 40 winks”, he said.
