Doctor Who: Watch the trailer for Series 9!
Earlier this year, geek icons Alan Tudyk & Nathan Fillion started an Indiegogo campaign to crowd-fund a new web series focusing on Wray Nerely (Tudyk), a ex- TV star who’s career hasn’t amounted to much after the cancellation of his sci-fi series, Spectrum. That is indeed MAISIE FREAKING WILLIAMS making a totally badass entrance right at the end there like it ain’t even remotely a thang. “The Doctor’s sister should appear”, Capaldi said.
After being introduced, Capaldi mentioned that he had never been in front of 7,000 people before.
Gomez’s incarnation of the Master will be back during the “Doctor Who” season 9 premiere, slated to air on September 19. Capaldi played a guest-starring role in series fours’ “The Fires of Pompeii”. “We live in a world where everyeone’s so easy and everything’s so accessible, and the Doctor’s mysterious!” It’d just be a laugh. “On paper, the Doctors are surprisingly similar”. The show has been based in modern times for its last three seasons. It’s a “pinch me” movement, really… Kind of like the best friend everybody loves to hate. Details of Williams’ role are under wraps, but it seems she and the Doctor are old acquaintances.
As for Missy, Gomez said that there is something different about her now, which has created a new dynamic between her and the Doctor.
The short teaser, which was released this week at San Diego Comic-Con, focuses more on humor than mystery.
“Peter has a logic to (how he does it) and I like to press lots of buttons and he just looks at me, like ‘You’re messing up the system, ‘” Coleman said. Moffat later added, “The way Missy comes back into the Doctor’s life is probably not something you’re going to predict”. But maybe it’s time to retire this particular question, or at least evolve it. But Moffat has spoken: The Doctor can become a woman.
“They are friends. That’s the terrifying thing”, Moffat said.
As deduced by many fans, Sherlock will return this Christmas for a one-off Victorian special, reports the Radio Times today.
Susan, introduced in the pilot episode, “An Unearthly Child”, was played by Carole Anne Ford.
Clara will also be getting busy this season when she tries to teach the Doctor some key interpersonal skills.
Speaking at Comic-Con, Capaldi explained that Clara’s relationship with the Doctor has developed significantly.
