Dodge Brings Back Plum insane Challenger, Charger for 2016 Only
Plum insane first appeared on Dodge muscle cars in 1970, and according to FCA, it remains one of the most desirable colours for their Challenger and Charger models. You might guess that the crazy-ass 707-horsepower Hellcat and R/T Scat Pack models will be some of the lucky ones. The American carmaker recently announced it will be reintroducing the Plum insane body color on the 2016 Challenger and 2016 Charger models at the Woodward Dream Cruise. Some other “crazy” colors have included Go ManGo, TorRed, Toxic Orange, Detonator Yellow and Green with Envy. Today, the enthusiast demand for this heritage hue is stronger than ever – as the signature paint color is directly associated with high collectability and the famed “Mopar-or-no-car” legacy. The bright paint color will make its debut at the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise on August 15.
The paint color looks fantastic on the Challenger in the press photos you see here.
For the Charger lineup, the vehicles sporting the purple hue include: the Charger SXT with 20-inch wheels and the 292- or 300-hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6; Charger R/T and R/T Road & Track with 370-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V-8; 485-hp Charger R/T Scat Pack and SRT 392; and Charger SRT Hellcat.
Orders will start in September and production is to begin in November.
Although the color itself has been around for some time but for a long time, Dodge has kept is exclusive limiting it to some of the trims only.
The standout color is back for a limited-production run.
