For 2016, the Viper ACR gets new Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix brakes that have the largest brake pad area ever on Viper.
Chris “The Wolf” Wrinkler was at the wheel for 11 of the records, including the fastest ever time at Michigan’s Gingerman Raceway (1:31.91) and the Willow Springs Raceway in California (1:21.24).
The Laguna Seca time, as well as the other times, have been certified by the Sports vehicle Club of America (SCCA).
Nobody doubted that the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is fast, but a few might be surprised that Dodge has declared it the “Track Record King”. In comparison, the P1 set a time of 1:30.71 while the 918 managed to set a time of 1:29.89.
Attendees will be able to drive not just the Viper but also the Challenger and Charger Hellcats, as the entire Bondurant auto fleet is being converted over to these three specific models. In February, endurance racer Tommy Kendall set the lap record at the Texas Motorsports Ranch (1:16.98) before Winkler went on a 7 month long campaign of smashing track records around the country.
