Dodgers Hall of Fame Broadcaster Vin Scully to Miss Postseason Following
“On the advice of his doctors, Scully will miss the Dodgers’ postseason games to rest up but is looking forward to returning in 2016”.
In a press release today (October 8, 2015) the Los Angeles Dodgers announced long time and Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully would not be calling any of the Dodgers’s postseason games.
Scully has been the voice of the Dodgers since 1950 when they were in Brooklyn and he still plans to be back next year for his 67th season on the air. But the Fordham product missed the final three games of the regular season with an undisclosed medical issue.
Scully, probably the most beloved figure in Los Angeles history, is still planning on returning next season for what he said will likely be his last.
The team said Scully is “resting comfortably” but did not offer any details about the nature of the procedure.
Fans are wishing him a speedy recovery and good health for next season.
Scully, 87, had been scheduled to call the Dodgers-Mets NLDS that begins Friday night on radio.
Scully, considered by many the greatest sportscaster of the 20th century, said he does not want to have a farewell tour.
