Cassel has started for the Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. He rose to prominence as the back-up to Tom Brady and played the entire 2008 season as the team’s starter after Brady tore both his ACL and MCL in the opener.

The Cowboys are bringing in veteran quarterbacks Christian Ponder, Matt Flynn, Josh Johnson and McLeod Bethel-Thompson on Tuesday in an attempt to find a backup for Weeden, the Dallas Morning News is reporting.
