Drake and Rihanna have not actually confirmed that they’re a couple, though rumors have been present for months. The rumored couple caught photographers’ attention last night (September 7) in California. Rihanna appeared to even have her drink from the show, arriving clutching a red glass filled with a red liquid. Later, they cuddled up with a shark toy, after which Rihanna got a shark tattoo.

However, Drake’s father Dennis Graham, who is also a musician with his own single on the way, is firmly crushing our dreams by saying the romance is not real.

“They’re friends, they’ve been friends for years”, said Dennis of AubRih. “They’ve been friends for years”. “I don’t know about settling down… no, they’re friends”, Papa Graham revealed in the company of some fine lady friends. “There’s no relationship, they’re friends”.

He later added that we shouldn’t read too much into Drake’s VMAs speech because ‘everybody’s professing love”, and that “there’s no relationship.
