Does This Video Prove Mythical Lizard Man Is Real?
The Lizard Man is a local urban legend about a massive, man-sized lizard that lurks in the area’s swamps, according to Starpulse.
Jim Wilson said he was traveling toward Camden on S.C. 34 when “something came out of the woods and ran across the Scape Ore Bridge”.
“My hand to God, I am not making this up”, she wrote in an email to the ABC News 4 newsroom.
The museum keeps an exhibit of Lizard Man lore on display.
“Though my wife believes me that it’s real, she said she would be embarrassed that everyone would think I was a loon so I kept it a secret”, said the man.
After two, new reported sightings of Lizard Man in South Carolina, fascination is growing over whether the mythical swamp creature actually exists. The 20-second video captured by the coon hunter shows this lizard man further away, but you can see the tail and some movement of the beast.
The video stops as the figure appears to turn towards the camera. “So as I tell people, You have to believe. I also don’t know if it’s the same thing you posted”, he added.
“When it noticed me, I high-tailed it out”, he said.
The Lizard Man was first spotted by Christopher Davis, 17, in the summer of 1988 when he stopped to change a flat tire near a swamp at 2 a.m. Later, a man named Chris Davis claimed his auto was attacked by a 7-foot-tall “lizard man” with glowing red eyes. He escaped, but scratch marks remained on his roof.
And the legend was born. Lizard Man would have been ideal for that show.
For awhile sightings trailed off, but Lizard Man resurfaced once again in 2011 when a couple reported that their auto was mauled overnight.
Rudy Mancke, a naturalist in residence at the University of South Carolina who has studied the state’s animal and plant populations, said unless he is able to actually see the animal, or cryptid-like creature like Lizard Man, there is no way for him to disprove or confirm its existence.
The beast has been dubbed the Scape Ore Lizard Man, and locals have been sighting the beast for years.
I answer: “Of course I believe Lizard Man was real”.
But the creature has not been seen in more than a decade – until now, possibly creating yet another ripple in the swampy waters around Bishopville.
