Dole has stopped production at that facility and has withdrawn all salads produced at that facility from the market. The CDC alerted that listeria could have harmful impacts on pregnant women. On January 22, Food Safety News reported that based on epidemiological evidence, seven cases of Listeria monocytogenes infection were confirmed across five provinces related to this current outbreak: Ontario 3, Quebec 1, New Brunswick 1, Prince Edward Island 1 and Newfoundland and Labrador 1. Symptoms usually appear within a few days or a few weeks after exposure to the bacteria, but sometimes symptoms don’t appear for two months.
We are working to restock our full variety of packaged salads as quickly as possible.
Since September 2015, CDC has been collaborating with public health officials in several states and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections (listeriosis).
The food company said on its Facebook page it was starting a “voluntary withdrawal” of some of its salads.
The symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, include flu-like fever and muscle aches, upset stomach or diarrhea, stiff neck, headache, loss of balance, confusion, or convulsions.
