Dolphins, Colts Expected To Inquire About Saints’ Sean Payton
Payton signed a contract extension with the Saints in 2013 that carries through the 2017 season and pays him $8 million each year, which would entitle New Orleans to compensation in exchange for Payton if he chose to sign with another team. The Saints went 7-9 previous year and started 1-3 this season. The Colts may also be interested if they decide to part ways with Chuck Pagano.
Adam Schefter reports that teams are expected to look into nabbing Payton after the season is over.

There’s nothing to indicate Payton would entertain another offer.
Payton, 51, is 81-51 in his eight-plus seasons with New Orleans.
It appears that teams will try to persuade Sean Payton to trade in his black and gold this offseason.
Schefter points out Payton coached current Dolphins interim coach Dan Campbell in both Dallas and New Orleans.
Something else is that it’s highly unlikely that the Saints would want to make a departure from the Payton/Brees connection despite the sudden downturn in production recently.
