Domino’s pulled out of T-Mobile Tuesday promotion
This is the revelation that has hit T-Mobile US after their customers overwhelmed the famous pizza outlet.
On the Bright Side T-Mobile saves Domino’s Pizza a lot of hassles by not running the offer which stated that one Domino’s Pizza would be offered free for household point this would have caused a lot of confusion in the stores as the personal would have to go ahead and verify the orders before catering to it. In fact, the order volume of Domino’s pizzas during the “T-Mobile Tuesdays” promotion has increased by almost 3-4 times the usual order volume witnessed by the pizza maker on a regular day. Legere said the voucher would carry a $15 value.
In an internal memo to employees, Domino’s apologized as it announced it was backing out of plans to repeat the event next Tuesday, June 21, and is suspending the promotion “indefinitely”. However, the pizza maker has opted out of the promotion because of overwhelming demand. (Really now, would you be so conservative if the reward in a promotion was pizza?) But it’s not in the way companies usually mess up when coming up with demand projections that end up being too modest.
But It was noticed that Domino’s struggled to meet the high demand for pizza from the T-Mobile Tuesdays app. John Legere, the CEO of T-Mobile, was of the view that that Domino’s received three to four times the number of ordered that they used to get on regular day basis owing to the app.
This T-Mobile sales gimmick cost way too much dough – pizza dough, that is.
Since the launch of the program almost two weeks ago, Leger said the T-Mobile Tuesdays app has been downloaded more than 2 million times. David Christopher, chief marketing officer of AT&T Entertainment Group said that such gestures help in improving their relationship with their customers.
In response to this statement, a Domino’s spokesperson told TechCrunch that T-Mobile’s promotion generated an overwhelming response, but they are happy, so many of their customers love Domino’s. What they are doing now is re-examining the promotion’s future. T-Mobile Tuesdays is also getting a $20 MLB.com coupon as well as free Vudu rental and Wendy’s Frosty. When the goal is to promote the brand and make customers feel appreciated, that’s a sizable failure on both T-Mobile and Domino’s part.
