Don Lemon Takes Jabs At Donald Trump After LeBron James Interview
The pair discussed sports, politics and race relations.
Also singing James’s praises?
Jordan jumped to James’ defence on Saturday.
It seems like the president has had a change of heart regarding James. Lemon’s chief offense was apparently making James look smart, which Trump said “wasn’t easy to do”.
“I like Mike!” Trump added, seemingly referencing basketball legend Michael Jordan, with whom James is often compared. Earlier this year, she said that she “hates to see” immigrant children separated from their parents at the US border, a policy decision made by Donald Trump earlier this year.
Mr Trump has repeatedly and strongly criticised the NFL in particular for not punishing players who kneel during the national anthem in a form of protest.
LeBron James is one of the greatest pro basketball players in history. Jordan’s now his guy.
While a host of people have now spoken out against Donald Trump in his attack on LeBron James – including now Melania Trump – LeBron himself has yet to weigh in. That’s something I can’t relate to, because I know that sports was the first time I was around someone white.
“So let me get this straight: Flint, Missouri, has dirty water still, but you anxious about an interview about a man doing good for education and generations of kids in his hometown?” he asked the president on Twitter. LeBron is originally from Akron and in the interview with Don, he talked about how important sports can be in a child’s life and how he felt Donald was “using sports to kinda divide us”.
That campaign appearance probably turned the tide, as Trump didn’t always feel so strongly against James.
James didn’t pay any mind to hate and continued to share his joy over the I Promise school.
On Saturday afternoon, Melania Trump also issued a surprising, positive statement about James, but did not reference her husband.
Early this year, a federal court approved a million settlement for former students of Trump University, who claimed the school was a bait-and-switch operation that did not offer the real estate industry insights it promised. Lemon wrote on Twitter.
James would be the biggest name to ever make the trip for the exhibition game, which sees Team Africa, with Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid as captain, take on Team World. He has every right to fire back, of course, but I kind of hope he doesn’t.
