Don’t learn lessons in intolerance from Pakistan: Rahul to Modi
Attacking Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for calling the protest manufactured, the Gandhi scion said, “This is not a dream like Make in India project, this is the reality…you think people like PM Bhargava and Narayana Murthy have nothing to do but to manufacture protest against you?” “Our strength is our tolerance”, he said.
“Government talks of skill India, Modi ji tells everybody that we need to skill our people…When students in FTII with superb skills complaint about a mediocre person heading them, the government crushes their voice”, said Rahul Gandhi. Their biggest weakness is their intolerance. “Let us not learn the wrong lessons”, he said.
The prime minister also struck a conciliatory note, beginning his speech with a reference to the involvement of Congress leaders in drafting the Constitution. “Their leaders don’t hear the voice of their people”. Or will he stand by and watch as his colleagues trample on the voice of this country.
Mr. Gandhi made light of Prime Minister’s statement that as the Gujarat Chief Minister, he had placed the Constitution on an elephant and walked along to create awareness about the document. Or will he do his job and defend what it stands for?
He said that VK Singh after being sworn as an MP and holding the post of General of Indian Army compared Dalit children to dogs.
“He called Dalit children dogs”.
“VK Singh has directly challenged the constitution by likening Dalit children to dogs. How does the prime minister allow him to continue (in the council of ministers)?” He later said he was misunderstood. Dabholkar, Pansare and Kalburgi are shot dead in cold blood by fanatics. “The ultimate responsibility for his protection is with the Prime Minister who remained silent”, he remarked.
Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party also took on the government and said: “It is time to rise and clarify your stand. If so many people are returning awards then you need to introspect”.
