Don’t look down! Skyslide to open 1000 feet above Los Angeles
Views from the observation deck atop the West’s tallest skyscrapers are no doubt impaired this week as it makes it debut.
The ride costs $8 (£5.85) but lasts just four seconds as riders whizz down the slide using a plastic sack. A member of the media rides down a glass slide during a media preview at the U.S. Bank Tower building in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, June 23, 2016. Going from the 70th floor to the 69th floor, the downhill slide has a path of roughly 45 feet, allowing riders to quickly pick up speed while looking down at a pristine view of Los Angeles from afar. Visitors are whisked up 70 floors for views of almost the entire LA basin, from the mountains out to the ocean.
If you think roller coasters are no big deal, try this. It also seems like a great place for watching other people descend the slide in terror, which is the true reward.
Oh! And did we mention it’s MADE OF GLASS! The views are awesome, if you are courageous enough to keep your eyes open. But even native Angelenos should enjoy the surreal view of their home from 70 floors up. Tickets start at $19 for general admission with a timed entry and available in 30-minute intervals except for VIP tickets that start at $30. In celebration of its opening, Skyslide is hosting a free block party on Saturday with performances from Snoop Dogg and Far East Movement.
