Don’t use the windshield wipers — GM
The company is recalling almost 2,000 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia SUVs.
The 2016 Buick Enclave is among 32,000 large SUVs General Motors is recalling over electrical problems in wiper motors.
Do you own one of the SUV’s being recalled?
NHTSA said owners are advised not to use their front windshield wipers until the wiper cover has been replaced.
The vehicles are being repaired through replacement of wiper motor covers. Most of the models are in North America. Employees found the wiper motors overheating at the factory.
About all GM is saying is the defect occurred during manufacturing of the new SUVs and using the wipers can cause the motor to overheat.
Parts are being shipped to the dealers so that they can fix the problem.
GM says if weather stops owners from taking their SUVs to dealers, it will pick up the vehicles for service.
The plant’s quality manager reported the problem on Sept 21, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the recall began nine days later. And “if fix elements are unavailable, GM will present a rental auto without charge till elements turn out to be out there”, General Motors stated in a assertion.
Of the vehicles, about 6,400 are in customer hands.
