Donald Trump Campaigns in the Midlands After Dropping Out of Debate
After Donald Trump announced Tuesday night that he would boycott Thursday’s Fox News debate, Megyn Kelly, one of the event’s moderators and the frequent object of Trump’s ire, warned the real estate mogul on her primetime show that he “doesn’t get to control the media”.
Do they attack Trump in absentia, or does that look weak? However, that turned out to be an empty threat, as that donation was never made and Trump still participated in the debate. He had long complained about his dissatisfaction with tough questioning from anchor Megyn Kelly in the first Republican presidential debate in August 2015.
Donald trump is saying he wants no part of the fox debate and now he’s threatening to appear on a competing network.
Donald Trump has dominated headlines with his decision to skip the debate, but Paul called his return to the main stage “the shot in the arm we’ve been waiting for”.
He also said Trump’s thin-skinned reaction to criticism only “makes people call into question his judgment”. “They need to make light of it”. That matters because in the Iowa caucus format, as voters can change their minds as the night wears on. Now when I’m representing the country, if I win…as president, I won’t let our country, because that’s a personality trait.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, meanwhile, said he didn’t “have time for these kinds of distractions”.
Democrats, too, faced fresh uncertainty about their debates ” marquee events in the presidential race.
“Anytime you get a podium and a microphone and 15-20 million people watching in an election campaign, you should take it”, Christie told Boston Herald Radio.
There’s also the possibility Trump, whether he planned his debate departure or was forced into it by Fox’s combative statements, has already won the fight.
Whether Trump’s decision helps or hurts his campaign in Iowa and beyond remains to be seen.
The Trump campaign ignored Cruz’s call for a two-man debate, while Cruz communications director Rick Taylor continued the scattershot assault Wednesday on Trump on MSNBC.
That’s an argument yet to dent Trump’s standing among his supporters, who view such actions as a reminder of what they like most about him: Trump plays by his own rules, even if that means taking on his party’s leadership and his party’s favourite television network.
Rival Christie said Trump’s snub would prove a mistake. “He is so far outside the rules”.
Not every candidate was convinced Mr Trump would follow through on his pledge to stay away. “He’s always been an outsider”. In place of the debate, the GOP front-runner said he will hold a fundraiser in Des Moines, Iowa, to benefit military veterans organizations. “In fact, I actually like debating”. Dan Pfeiffer, a former senior adviser to President Obama, tweeted.
That statement seemed to insinuate that she was experiencing her menstrual cycle while she was moderating the debate and asked Trump about his history of making misogynistic statements.
