Donald Trump Considers Complaint Against Ted Cruz ‘Voter Fraud’
The real-estate mogul was humble in his concession speech Monday night, but has since launched attacks on Cruz and retweeted supporters who have called the Iowa caucuses “meaningless” and given Trump other encouragements heading into New Hampshire, the next primary state.
The Senator from Florida, Rubio came a close third in Iowa surprising many with his performance.
Trump alleges Cruz won the caucuses by committing fraud.
Asked before a rally in Milford, New Hampshire on Tuesday evening if he planned to change his campaign strategy, Trump told a news conference he felt confident in his methods, but he was adding more town hall-style events. And as the results are promising for the Florida senator, he heads to New Hampshire where the February 9 votes will be cast before the general elections in November.
Cruz apologized to Carson on Tuesday, in a statement that mischaracterized CNN’s reporting.
“I think some people were disappointed that I didn’t go into the debate”, he was quoted as saying by Fox News. The maverick former-VP candidate is no doubt trying to align Cruz with the political establishment against which Trump has structured his entire candidacy.
Ben Carson cried foul against the Cruz campaign for telling caucus-goers that the retired neurosurgeon was dropping out of the race and going home and they should vote for the Texas senator instead.
Election ads sponsored by Mr Cruz and his allies included old footage of Mr Trump supporting women’s right to an abortion and saying that state-backed healthcare is necessary.
Rick Wilson, a Republican consultant who thinks Rubio is the Republican candidate best placed to win the White House, said the billionaire’s latest outburst was a sign of desperation. “Additionally, they misrepresented Mr. Trump and unfortunately this happens all the time with crooked politicians”.
“If that’s one of the issues we’re talking about heading into Monday that’s a good thing”, a senior advisor of Cruz told the news agency before the votes were cast.
“I think we did very well”, Trump said. “I’m the only one who’s self-funding”, he said.
