Donald Trump Definitely Had an Effect on Saturday Night Live’s Ratings
Donald Trump as host of “SNL” would have appeared to be a long shot as recently as a few months ago. Mohr added, “When you’re a host on Saturday Night Live you have to just surrender, you have to give in, and he did”.
For the most part, NBC has to be feeling pretty good about themselves commercially.
Saturday Night Live doesnt hit the schedule until 11:30 Eastern in the United States, which means a ton of people also DVR the series to watch later or watch it via other platforms. “The reason they put me there is one very simple reason: It’s called ratings”, the current Republican presidential frontrunner said Thursday on The Today Show.
The episode seized the highest ratings of the season, according to NBC.
The advocacy group said two things needed to happen in order to earn the money: the words “Deport Racism” or “Trump is a Racist” needed to be heard clearly during the SNL broadcast, and the speaker needed to be identified in media by name. I knew this was going to happen. That is more surprising. What that means is that Trump’s episode was rated 57% higher than the show’s fall average and 53% higher versus the same episode last year.
Billionaire Trump said he understood.
The Saturday telecast averaged a 6.6 rating and a 16 percent share of the TV audience in the 56 markets that Nielsen tabulates for overnight ratings.
Trump’s best moment came when he tried to explain his relationship with comedian Rosie O’Donnell.
But that didn’t stop NBC from approving Trump’s appearance on “SNL”.
He ended the segment stating, “I have tremendous respect for Leslie Jones. Go Larry!” the tweet read.
In Donald Trump’s much-hyped Saturday Night Live hosting stint, the presidential candidate got heckled- and out-shined- by Larry David. Cast member Cecily Strong played Trump’s wife, Melania. After all, he is the greatest.
The former Apprentice host even had opinions on the sketches he wasn’t in.
Secretary Omarosa reported that Trump called Putin “a loser” and made him cry.
“It’s like I’m running for president”, said Bobby Moynihan as Drunk Uncle.
“These kids today, they don’t even vote anymore…” But I loved this parody. The ‘Trump effect’ is also evident in GOP debates, where the first three debates hit 61 million viewers, a statistic that took 13 debates in 2011. “He’s going to make America grapes again”.
