Donald Trump, “Hillary, Do Not Play War On Women Card”
Donald Trump has escalated his rhetoric against Hillary Clinton over the past day, as the Democratic presidential front-runner has subtly chided her Republican counterpart.
As reported by CNN Politics, Trump moved on from Hillary Clinton to other political opponents – everyone from Senator Lindsay Graham to President Barack Obama. Lemon has been pretty fair with Trump, but he’s still on top of Trump’s disgust at Hillary Clinton’s bathroom break and defense of “schlonged” usage.
Despite those gaps, Democratic men are actually more likely than Democratic women to say the party has a better chance to win in 2016 with Clinton than without her (64 percent of men say the best chance is with Clinton, 55 percent of women say the same). I think there’s a difference in the way [Trump and I] used it. I referred to the Mondale/Ferraro ticket, while he used it very specifically to refer to one person – a woman.
“It’s gonna take a lot more for me to get upset at a woman who enabled a guy who turned the Oval Office into a frat house and his intern into a humidor”, said Lemon’s guest, conservative commentator Kurt Schlichter. But so far, party insiders have mainly demurred from criticizing Trump’s latest boundary-breaking remarks, since publicly defending a Democratic rival, even if it appeases female voters, could prove problematic.
Meanwhile Chelsea Clinton, the only child of Hillary Clinton, announced yesterday that she is expecting her second child next summer.
Both have said they plan to intensify their public political roles after the New Year in an effort to boost Ms Clinton’s campaign just six weeks before the first round of primary voting.
In an interview Tuesday night with The Des Moines Register, which the paper published Wednesday, Clinton was asked whether Trump was attacking her as a woman.
Trump defended the crude statement via Twitter last night, although his explanation could be questioned. In surveys taken after the Saturday debate, Clinton shot up to 60 percent while Sanders dropped to 27 percent. “Again, I’m not sure that anybody’s surprised that he keeps pushing the envelope”. Pierson said. “Why don’t you tell me what schlonged means?”
For Mrs Clinton, however, Mr Trump’s attacks could put her in a position of strength. “Luckily I am old enough where it doesn’t particularly bother me”, Clinton said, adding that the country “shouldn’t let anybody bully his way into the presidency”.
