Donald Trump issues rallying cry for Election Day volunteers
Trump said he plans to watch certain parts of Pennsylvania closely on Election Day. “If you do that, we’re not going to lose”.
“We’re going to watch Pennsylvania. Some great leaders here of the Republican party, and they’re very concerned about that”, said Trump. “And we have to have the sheriffs and the police chiefs and everybody watching”. He’s also stoked fears of cheating at the polls, arguing that fraud will increase this year because courts have rolled back voter ID laws in some states.
“Go down to certain areas to and watch and study and make sure other people don’t come in and vote five times”, he said.
To borrow a phrase from Trump himself, “many people are saying” that Trump is complaining about rigged elections nearly 3 months in advance of the election itself to provide himself with an excuse for losing.
To that end, the Trump campaign website has a new sign-up page asking supporters to become “election observers” in November.
That decree, which has been in place since 1982, was ordered in response to claims of voter intimidation against minorities in the 1970s and 80s, according to Politico’s Josh Gerstein.
The online request for volunteers expands on his freaky Friday declaration, asking for volunteers from not just the Keystone State but nationwide: “Help me stop Crooked Hillary from rigging this election!”
At a Friday campaign event in Altoona, Penn., the Republican presidential nominee said voting might not be enough for him to win.
In his statement to NPR, Miller echoed Trump’s concerns about a “rigged system”. He also acknowledged he might not have used the words as Trump, his former Republican primary rival.
Donald Trump is recruiting poll observers for Election Day and has suggested that Hillary Clinton’s campaign may cheat at the polls in Pennsylvania.
In 2014, a Pennsylvania judge struck down a law requiring voters to produce state-approved photo ID in order to vote.

At his first rally on Friday, Trump put his dislike of the media in harsher terms than usual – calling journalists “the lowest form of life”. Because if you do that, and I know you’re all voting.
