Donald Trump makes noise in Sanders’s state with rally in Burlinton, Vt
Donald Trump implemented a loyalty oath – not very effectively – to weed out hecklers and Bernie Sanders’ supporters at Donald’s his oversold rally Thursday night in Vermont. Trump released a statement saying he had to be “loyal” to his supporters after distributing 20,000 free tickets for a venue that could only fit 1,400 people.
Local police said even people with tickets in hand will be turned away once the theater is full and were expecting major gridlock across the city as the event gets underway.
“It would be a dream come true for me as well”, Sanders said. Those who said they weren’t were escorted out of the building.
A voice over the loudspeaker before the rally told the crowd that if a protester demonstrated nearby, to shout “Trump, Trump, Trump!” to alert security of their location. “Thank you, security. Yeah get him out of here”.
Earlier, Trump backers explained why they were so willing to wait all day in the cold to see the man they call a strong leader. “Tell him we’ll send it to him in a couple weeks”. “I would love, love, love to run against Donald Trump”.
“It’s not what I expected”, said Linnebur, who is supporting Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, but noted there was nothing on his ticket that said he had to support Trump. “Thank you darling.” Trump again mocked other candidates who hold events where there are no disruptions: “Nobody cares”.
Trump’s speech took place at the exact same time President Obama was discussing his recent executive orders on gun control in a televised town hall meeting, and Trump made it clear he’d reverse those orders, and then some, if elected president.
“When we said we’re gonna come up here, a lot of people said why”, Trump says. Bernard Sanders (I-VT) speaks on his agenda for America during a news conference on Capitol Hill April 30, 2015 in Washington, DC. Sen. Ted Cruz on Day Four of a six-day presidential campaign bus tour of Iowa, and asked about his birth in Canada and Donald Trump’s legal advice.
Deputy Burlington Police Chief Jan Wright told necn the event was a success from a public safety standpoint and that there were no significant problems that arose between rally attendees and protesters.
“The first night when I had these characters, I said I don’t want anybody to get hurt”, he said, adding that he has since learned another approach.
Trump likes to tout his support for the Second Amendment and often denounces gun-free zones at his rallies, including military bases.
When she told a Trump staffer at the entrance that she was not a Trump supporter, Martenis said the staffer tried to deny her entrance, calling it a “private affair”, but she was allowed in after she said she wanted to hear what Trump had to say.
“I think he has the vision and the attitude to get it done and not just talk about getting it done”, said Michael Eaton, a Trump supporter from Corinth, Vermont.
As more of these outbursts occurred, paranoia seemed to set in among the crowd, and some Trump supporters tried to spot potential intruders before they acted up.
“Yeah, don’t give him his coat”.
“Who’s going to pay for the wall?” he asked repeatedly.
The protests began a few minutes into Trump’s speech. My guys said don’t hurt them… “They started yelling at me, telling me to leave and move my sign”.
