Donald Trump: ‘No reason’ to raise $1 billion
Clinton has be wary of wooing Republicans during the primary season for fear of retaliation from the supporters of Bernie Sanders and the coalition that’s opposed her from the left side of the party.
Regardless of all the campaigning still to be done, it’s worth noting what Clinton has already accomplished – in most likely becoming the first woman presidential nominee from a major U.S. political party.
Donald Trump took to twitter Wednesday night and with the push of a button, perhaps shed some light on his VP choice – just as his advisers hoped he wouldn’t do. That is more than double the amount Clinton is likely to get, mediaQuant says. For them, the welfare of the party seems to have “trumped” the welfare of our country; what a bunch of “true patriots” – you have shown your true colors. I think, using my “religious” language, that God is sending them a serious message.
Carl Paladino, the campaign’s co-chair in NY and the 2010 gubernatorial nominee, said they will also rely on conventional get-out-the-vote efforts and blanketing the upstate region with signs and bumper stickers. Campaign manager Lewandowski told Reuters on Wednesday that he sees no need for Trump to raise that sum and that Trump may be able to stick to his low-priced style of campaigning.
While Trump shot to the top of the Republican race with freewheeling rhetoric, insults of rivals and promises to get tough on issues such as illegal immigration, even his biggest donors say they are discouraged by the candidate’s attacks in recent weeks on a Mexican-American judge.
“But I do want to qualify that by saying it is unlikely that I would choose to vote for the Democratic candidate”, she added.
In the beginning, there was obvious hesitation to support trump.
Earlier this week as Trump’s comments about Curiel were being roundly denounced as racist and inappropriate, Manafort stepped in and urged Trump to stop fanning the flames of the controversy. Bob Corker, who called Trump’s comments about Curiel “wrong at every level” during a Tuesday interview with MSNBC. Trump’s has dropped six points to 39 percent.
One campaign team member, who asked for anonymity because he is not authorized to comment publicly, said that while the team had held several discussions since Trump’s speech, the candidate remains his own most important foreign policy adviser.
Beyond his partnership with the RNC, Trump is reportedly courting wealthy potential donors more directly. Some are very carefully navigating the different fundraising committees set up by the RNC to ensure that their money is earmarked exclusively to help the party and other Republican candidates running in 2016.
“I was not elected as a delegate in March so I won’t be going to Cleveland”, Ralph Chittams Sr., senior vice chairman of the District’s Republican Party, told the AFRO. But, while these Republican leaders are disavowing Trump’s remarks on TV or in the news, the sad thing is they and the rest of the party are continuing to support him nonetheless. He told US News and World Report, however, that he has “never talked to” Trump about serving in his administration.
