They called on the Prime Minister to cancel his meeting with the billionaire businessman.
Netanyahu on Wednesday had rejected Trump’s comments earlier in the week, in which the Republican presidential contender had said that all Muslims should be banned from entering the U.S., but said that he would still meet with Trump as scheduled later this month.
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali criticized Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States, calling on Muslims “to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda”.
Mr Trump’s planned visit had already stirred opposition in Israel, with a range of MPs opposing it because of his comments about Muslims.
Issawi Frej, an Arab-Israeli lawmaker from the Meretz party, wrote to Silvan Shalom, the interior minister, asking that Trump’s visit be blocked.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest Tuesday called Trump’s rhetoric “offensive and toxic”, saying his plan “disqualifies him from serving as president” because he would be violating the U.S. Constitution if he implemented it, should he win the country’s 2016 presidential contest.
He now leads Republican polls by double-digit margins over his nearest rivals.
Republican and Democratic politicians are among the many who have condemned his remarks, including numerous Jewish leaders.
