Donald Trump Praised as ‘Talented’ by Russia’s Vladimir Putin
President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russian Federation wanted to develop relations with the United States, irrespective of who will become the next American president.
Asked about the prospect of a new U.S. president during the three-hour news conference, Putin, whose relationship with Barack Obama is strained at best, said “we first have to understand who it is going to be”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States presidential candidate Donald Trump praised each other on Thursday (Dec 17), saying they would welcome an improvement in the now-icy relations between their two nations. How can we not welcome that? “Of course we welcome this”.
President Vladimir Putin has said an analysis of the black box would help determine the downed jet’s flight path and position, which Ankara and Moscow have furiously disagreed upon.
Russia began airstrikes to back Assad in September, but recently Russian analysts and government officials have expressed frustration with the slow speed of the offensive and ineffectiveness of the Syrian troops.
“But when it comes to internal politics, the way he uses his words, how popular he is, again I repeat, it is not our business to make judgments about his work”, Putin added. Russian Federation says the plane did not leave Syria and posed no threat to Turkey.
It also found that a number of firms and individuals close to the Kremlin were providing support to the project Putin’s daughter oversees at the university, and to the All-Russian Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll Federation, in which she is involved.
Some of Trump’s statements on Putin were apparently music to the Russian president’s ear.
Complaints, often from conservative quarters, that the United States is facing a war on Christmas are heard just about every year, as people lament what they describe as efforts to diminish the religious aspects of the holiday.
Putin said the Russian military operation in Syria will continue until a political process starts, but it is up to the Syrians to decide when to stop fighting and sit down for talks.
He used the news conference, a set-piece of Russian political life, to try to reassure voters over the troubled state of Russia’s economy.
On other issues, Putin said Russia was working with Egypt to restore air links severed following the October 31 crash of a Russian passenger in the Sinai desert that killed all 224 people aboard. And I’m sure that Obama doesn’t like him very much.
Russian Federation and the United States are leading the talks, but Russia’s ambassador to the U.N. told reporters that he sees attempts to “undercut” the communiques that have been agreed upon in the Syria discussions so far.
In a weird heaping of praise that seems to relegate the Cold War to the historic doldrums, Trump and Putin have publicly touted each other’s virtues despite ongoing tensions between their two nations over worldwide crises like Syria, the Ukraine and MH17.
“I think that after the Syrian authorities familiarize themselves with the draft resolution, they will also find it suitable”, Putin said.
