Donald Trump Pulls Out Of Heritage Presidential Forum
Donald Trump has chose to skip a campaign event in South Carolina on Friday, citing a “significant business transaction”.
The South Carolina forum was to have been Trump’s first public appearance since critics assailed him for declining to confront a man who said President Obama is a Muslim who is “not even an American”, and claimed there are Muslim terrorist camps in the United States.
“We have a strong slate of candidates running for the Republican nomination for president, and ahead of our primary, South Carolina voters want to hear from each candidate personally about the most important issues – from health care to jobs and the economy – facing the states and our nation”, Haley stated on the event’s website. We know he’s not even an American …
“We have a problem in this country – it’s called Muslims”, the unidentified man said. “That’s my question. When can we get rid of them?”
Trump said he’d be “looking at a lot of different things”. “A lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there”.
A second town hall attendee endorsed statements made by the questioner.
Both Democrats and Republicans have condemned Trump’s response.
GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump plans to attend and satisfy criticisms that he is not a true conservative. “He sends his regrets”, the campaign said in a statement. Obama has repeatedly stated publicly that he is a Christian and released a birth certificate in 2011 showing he was born in Hawaii in 1961.
Ten other Republican hopefuls are still set to address the crowd: Fiorina, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum and Scott Walker.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint and Heritage Action for America’s CEO Mike Needham will host and moderate the event.
